Junior Amateur History
In 1964 Harold Eller, professional at Old Hickory Country Club, and his wife, Ruth, organized the Tennessee Junior Golf Association and hosted the Tennessee State Junior for boys and girls. Mrs. Eller was the president of the TJGA from its inception until it was absorbed by the TGA in 2000. The first TJGA State Junior champion was the Ellers’ match play, but since 1966 stroke play has been used. The name of each State Junior champion is inscribed on the Harold Eller Trophy.
