Santa Maria Valley Amateur: Sprinkling Tops Field
SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA (August 13, 2006) -- The Santa Maria Valley Amateur was held on August 12 and 13, reports Jack O'Keefe, head professional at Rancho Maria Golf Club. The first round leader, Brian McPherson of Santa Maria, posted his career low round on Saturday with a 66 but as is sometimes the case after going low, stumbled a bit in the second round with a 75 to post 141 for the tournament. That opened the door for Ramie Sprinkling, who came back from a first round of 71 with a final round of 65 to take the title by 3. A strong field of approx. 90 scratch players continued the tradition of this well-run tournament.
