N.J. State Amateur: Two-time defending champion Michael Stamberger tied for lead

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Two-time defending New Jersey State Amateur champion Michael Stamberger is one of three players tied at the top of the leaderboard after day one. Stamberger, along with Max Greyserman and Jared Mactas, posted one-under par 69s at Morris County Golf Club to share a one-shot lead.
Stamberger, a mid-amateur player from Plainfield, made three birdies to go along with two bogeys in his opening round.
Kiernan Purcell and Jeremy Wall are tied for fourth place at even-par 70, while John Voetsch is along in sixth at 71.
The 72-hole championship is in its 114th year, and is conducted by the New Jersey State Golf Association.

one of three qualifying sites or have met the
exemption criteria. Format is 72 holes of stroke play
with a cut to the low 40 scores after the second
