Austin Amaya medals at Long Beach Match Play
LONG BEACH, Calif. — Austin Amaya of Yorba Linda posted rounds of 70-66 at Skylinks Golf Course to secure the No. 1 seed heading into the match play portion of the Long Beach Match Play Championship.
Jacob Williams led after day one, shooting 69, but fell back after a 75 on Sunday.
The top 64 players advanced to match play, which will begin next Saturday at Skylinks with the round-of-64 taking place, followed by the round-of-32 and round-of-16 on Sunday. The following weekend will house the quarterfinal and semifinal matches, with the 36-hole championship match taking place Sunday, June 14.
The cut to make match play fell at 151, with four players tying two remaining spots. The match play bracket for next weekend will be posted as soon as it's made available.
The winner of the championship will be invited to participate in the Long Beach Open, a $165,000 professional tournament taking place at the end of July.
