2015 Memorial Amateur Preview: Cameron Champ returns to repeat
Cameron Champ
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The 18th running of the Memorial Amateur will take place May 23-25 at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course — and 2014 champion Cameron Champ will be in the field looking to repeat.
The Sacramento native who will be a sophomore at Texas A&M this fall, won by two shots over Matt Hansen in last year's event, thanks in part to his tournament-low 65 in the second round.
The tournament has grown to continuously attract a more national, as well as international field as the years have progressed. The 2015 event will host players traveling from Florida, Texas, Nevada, North Dakota, and Michigan as well as contestants with citizenship in Finland, England, Taiwan and Indonesia.
Alongside Champ, some tournament favorites are sure to be University of Toledo junior Otto Black, who is fresh off his victory at the Horton Smith Championship in Detroit, former UC Davis golfer Jonny Baxter, who tied for third last year, as well as current UC Davis teammates Luke Vivolo and Ryan Han, who tied for 15th at last week's NCAA West Regional.
AmateurGolf.com will have live coverage from Monday's final round, including photos and interviews with the winning player.
Saturday/Sunday tee times and a field list can be found here.
