ORLANDO, Fla. — John Cuomo of Richmond, Va. got the John Kline Super Seniors rolling with an opening-round 69 at the Country Club of Orlando, which led after day one by five shots. The score was good enough to give him a sizable cushion, allowing him to shoot 73-76 to close the event and still win by three.
Finishing in second place was Pete Allen of Southport, N.C. His second-round 70 was the second lowest round of the tournament. He took second by five shots over Jim Rollefson of Naples.
John Baldwin captured the 70-74 age division title by eight shots, shooting 78-70-71. His total bested Ed Fletcher in second place and Jerry Hutton in third.
In the 75-79 age division, Dick McClear of Frankfort, Mich. edged Bob Moyers of New Market, Va. despite a final-round 77. Moyers shot 80 in round one and followed that up with back-to-back 74s.
Finally, in the 80+ division, Joe Estes of Atlanta shot below his age twice, in the second and third rounds, to win by 17 strokes. After shooting 84 on Monday, Estes carded 76 and 78 to win in runaway fashion.
