Heavy rain cancels final two rounds of Georgia Senior Invitational
Robert Parmar
STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — After getting in round one under clear skies, heavy rains moved in to postpone, then cancel the remaining two rounds at Eagle's Landing Country Club. That left the Georgia Senior Invitational with just 18 holes completed, and Robert Parmar of Farhope, Ala. crowned champion after an opening-round 69.
"The golf committee for the 2015 Georgia Senior Invitational has decided to cancel the remainder of the event, due to the weather forecast and the course conditions," said a message sent to tournament participants from Tournament Director Mark Hall.
Early on Wednesday morning, it was decided that play for round two would be cancelled, hoping to get round three in on Thursday, but considering the pending forecast and the current conditions of the golf course, it was best suited to be made final at 18 holes.
Michael Fosdick of Theodore, Ala. grabbed the second place spot at 70, while John Armstrong of Frostburg, Md. took third at 71.
Dave Bates and Pete Allen tied in the Super Senior Division at 69, while Danny Daniels fired 66 to run away with the Legends Division, taking home a six-shot win. Full results from the rain-shortened event can be found below.
