TCU out to hot start at The Goodwin

PALO ALTO, Calif. — A trio of TCU golfers shot five-under 65 on Thursday at The Goodwin to lead their Horned Frogs team to an opening-round eight-shot advantage.
Julien Brun, Andrew Presley, and Paul Barjon all posted 65 at Stanford University Golf Course's par-70 track, while Chelso Barrett and Giulio Castagnara posted 69. TCU leads UAB by eight and UNLV by ten.
John Oda of UNLV bested the Horned Frogs trio by one to lead the individual race after day one.
The defending champion and host Stanford Cardinal opened with four-under 276 and are 12 shots back in fifth place. The group was led by their star sophomore Maverick McNealy, as well as David Boote, both of whom shot 67.
This 54-hole event ends Saturday in Palo Alto.
