PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2014) — The NCPGA captured its third straight Staedler-Jetter Cup, beating the NCGA 19-9.

While the NCGA continued its domination in the Hanna-Wehrman Cup, the NCPGA continued its recent run of success in the Staedler-Jetter Senior Cup.

Already holding an 8-6 lead, the NCPGA went into warp drive in the Singles finale, winning the day 11-3 to easily capture their third straight crown.

Sealing the deal for the NCPGA was five wins in the final five matches, including a 4 and victory by Michael Cook over Mark Miller, a 5 and 4 win by Mitch Thomas over Dan Bieber and a 3 and 2 win by NCPGA Player of the Year Shawn McEntee over 2014 NCGA Senior Player of the Year Jim Knoll.

“Obviously, we all played really well,” said NCPGA Staedler-Jetter Cup captain Al Weinhold. “The teams, player-wise, are all pretty even.”

The NCGA’s two lone victories came via a 7 and 6 Herb Jensen win over Larry Babica and a 4 and 3 Gary Vanier win over John Snopkowski.

Jensen was on fire, hitting every green in regulation except for one, but it was hardly enough, as the NCPGA pulled away and was never threatened.
