Nick Engelhardt wins Santa Barbara County

LOMPOC, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2014) — Nick Engelhardt, a freshman from Santa Monica, Calif. at Cal Poly, shot 70-74 over the weekend at La Purisima Golf Course, one of California's most difficult golf courses, to capture the Santa Barbara County Amateur Championship.
Engelhardt won the event by two shots over former Chico State golfer Brandon Gama. Finsihing in third place was the defending champion, Johnny Ruiz, at 148.
Gama held a two-shot lead after Saturday's round with a 72, but Engelhardt took control with his Sunday 70, the lowest score during the 36-hole tournament.
