Hanzel takes lead at Georgia Senior Amateur

ALBANY, Ga. (August 27, 2014) - Doug Hanzel of Savannah leads the Georgia Senior Championship after posting a 5-under-par 67 in the second round. His 6-under-par 138 (71-67) total is two strokes better than Chris Hall of Kennesaw, who sits in second at 4-under-par 140 (74-66). The 28th annual competition is being played at Doublegate Country Club, August 26-28.
Hanzel won the Georgia Senior Championship in 2012 when it was held at Reynolds Plantation-Great Waters in Eatonton. He is also the reigning USGA Senior Amateur champion, claiming his national championship last year.
After 36 holes of play, 71 players made the cut at 14-over-par 158 and better.
Entries were open to male amateur golfers who are GSGA members and age 55 and older as of August 26. The field was determined by lowest USGA Handicap Indexes.
