Price opens Illinois Mid-Amateur with 69
FLOSSMOOR, Ill. (August 26, 2014) — Six players were under par on day one at the Illinois Mid-Amateur, but it was Andrew Price going the lowest of them all. His 69 has him one shot ahead of the field after the first round.

Price, a recent match play qualifier at the U.S. Amateur from Lake Bluff, Ill., made a bogey on the seventh hole after six pars, then starting with a three on the par-four ninth, Price closed bogey-free with four birdies to shoot three-under.

Last year's defending champion, and four-time winner Todd Mitchell struggled to a 74 on Tuesday and is five shots back.

Michael Natale is alone in second place at 70, though he did bogey to of his last three holes.

Four players are only two shots behind after day one, and in all, 12 golfers in within four shots of Price. The field will play 36 more holes beginning Wednesday morning and concluding on Thursday at Flossmoor Country Club.

ABOUT THE Illinois Mid-Amateur

Open to mid-amateurs age 25 and older who are resident of the state of Illinois. Qualifying is required for those who do not meet the exemption criteria. Format is 54-holes of stroke play with the low 35 and ties advancing to the final 18-holes. Must be a 7.4 handicap index or better.
