Jaspers wins his fifth Charlotte City Amateur
-Story courtesy of the Charlotte ObserverCHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 24, 2014) — Joe Jaspers sunk a 25-foot par putt on the 18th green to put an exclamation mark on his final round Sunday as he captured his fifth Charlotte City Amateur Golf Tournament.
Jaspers finished the final round at Quail Hollow Club with a 2-under par 70 to capture the 2014 event with a three-round 7-under 208. The 24 golfers in Sunday’s final round faced the identical pin placements from the 2014 Wells Fargo final round.
Jaspers received the “Ron Green Sr.” trophy for winning the tournament, with the hardware named after the long-time Charlotte Observer golf writer and columnist. Green was in attendance Sunday at Quail Hollow for the trophy presentation.

Charlotte City Amateur
54 hole stroke play championship that has been
played for over 50 years. After 18 holes the field will
be cut to the low 50 and ties. After 36 holes the field
will be cut to the low 24 (no ties). Ties for the low
24 will be decided by an on course play off. The low
24 will be exempt from qualifying for the following
year. Played over three different Charlotte-area
courses. Entry is open to any amateur golfer who is
a
legal resident of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina
and has a current USGA handicap index of 6.4 or
below.
