Four players lead after South Texas Amateur first round
John Dowdall
KERRVILLE, TX (August 8, 2014) — Four players sit atop the leaderboard at 3-under par 69 after the first round of the Texas South Amateur Championship. John Dowdall (pictured), Jimmy Keener, Logan Boatner and Jordan Sanders all made their way around the Hills and Creeks courses at the Club at Comanche Trace with very few blemishes to their scorecards in the final regional championship of the 2014 season.
Dowdall carded five birdies and a lone double bogey on the par-five 15th hole in his first round en route to his 3-under par day.
Dowdall began his round on the Creeks course and turned at 1-over par 37 in part to double bogey and one birdie. He got the ball rolling as he turned to the Hills course and birdied three of the first four holes.
