Semifinals set at Metropolitan Amateur

LOCUST VALLEY, N.Y. (August 1, 2014) — Reigning "Ike" champion David Pastore battled it out with stroke-play medalist Dylan Newman, forcing the match to 19 holes in the quarterfinals of the Metropolitan Amateur.
Pastore, who was recently low amateur at the Connecticut Open, will face Sam Bernstein in the semifinal, who also saw his quarterfinal match go 19 holes to defeat Ryan Snouffer.
On the other side of the match play bracket, Matt Lowe defeated Harrison Shih of Alpine 5-and-4 in the only quarterfinal match that did not require extra holes.
Lowe will face two-time Metropolitan Golf Association Player of the Year Joe Saladino in the semifinals. Saladino won his quarterfinal match in 19 holes against Steven Zyschowski.
Saturday’s semifinal matches will begin at noon, with the final match following on early Sunday morning.

The competition is open to male Amateur
members of MGA Member Clubs who have a
current USGA Handicap Index of 5.0 or less
and to those exempted by the MGA
Committee. All entrants are subject to the
MGA Rules and Regulations.
Format of play:
18 hole sectional qualifying round.
Qualifiers
play 36 hole on-site qualifying round,
determining 16 players for match play.
