Calif. State Open: Am Gladstone in 3rd place
From The SCPGA

BEAUMONT, Calif. (July 30, 2014) -- Jeremiah Wooding of Riverside and Chris Gilman of Yorba Linda share the first round lead at the 115th California State Open. Their nine under-par 63’s would come in different waves of play in the 168 player field, but were equally impressive. Wooding made nine birdies and nine pars.

When asked about his round, Wooding replied, “I would say it was more that I didn’t do anything bad. I hit it good from the fairways, I hit it good from the tees, and I made some putts.”

Gilman’s round was also bogey-free but included two eagles on the par four 13th and par five 16th on his incoming nine.

“After the first (eagle), I was struggling to remember the last time I made an eagle in a tournament,” Gilman said. “When the second one dropped, I thought it must really be my day.”

Amateur Cory Gladstone of San Diego is in third with a seven under-par 65.

The low PGA Professional currently is Geoffrey Dean of PGA WEST with a round of 71 leaving him in a tie for 33rd.
