Oglethorpe Invitational: Danny Pizetoski fires 64 for first round lead
SAVANNAH, Ga. (July 24, 2014) — Danny Pizetoski has a one-stroke lead after the first round of the Oglethorpe Invitational.
The University of Richmond product shot a blistering 64 at Wilmington Island Golf Club on Thursday.
Shad Tuten of Elberton, Georgia, posted a 65 on Thursday, and has second place to himself.
Andrew Winters, Harley Abrams, Joey Lane, Joshua Lee, and Ryan Benton all shot 66 and are tied for third.
Defending champion Jack Hall fired a first-round 67 and is in good position to make a run at a successful title defense. He is in a large group tied for eighth in the 54-hole event.

This
54-hole stroke play event (with 36-hole cut) has
been a good mix of collegiate, mid-amateur, and
senior players since its inaugural playing in 1983,
which was won by three-time PGA Tour winner
Gene Sauers. Entries open to amateurs with USGA
handicap index of 5 or less.
