Oregon State Amateur: Lim tops Landis in finale
Thomas Lim
WOODBURN, Ore. (June 21, 2014) -- Thomas Lim defeated Austin Landis 7 and 6 Saturday to claim the 2014 Oregon State Amateur title.
At the Oregon Golf Association Golf Course, Lim, who took the No. 2 seed during stroke-play qualifying, raced out to a 4-up lead after the first 18 holes Saturday morning. He got to a 5-up advantage before Landis rallied to win two holes.
On the second 18, Lim caught fire on the 8th hole and won four of the next five holes to put it out of reach for Landis.
Landis reached the final match with spirited play out of the No. 20 seed position. He won his second-round match in 22 holes and was able to sneak his way into Sunday's finale winning close matches throughout the week.
Lim is a golfer at the university of Oregon and rolled through match play. None of his matches reached the 18th hole, or in the case of Saturday's 36-hole championship match, the final hole.
