British Amateur: Brown medalist, Hagy 6th

Portrush, County Antrim, Ireland (June 18, 2014) -- England's Daniel Brown shot 66-67 to take medalist honors and the No. 1 seed at the 2014 British Amateur at Royal Portbrush.
Brown cleared the second-place finishers, Ashton Turne and Renato Paratore, by four shots and will be the top seed when match play begins Thursday.
Paratore, from Italy, carded a second-round 66 to slide into the third seed while Turner, who hails from England, shot 70-67 to take the No. 2 seed.
USA's Brandon Hagy, who excelled at Cal and will play on the U.S. Palmer Cup squad next week, shot 69-70 to finish tied for sixth place during stroke-play qualifying.

This championship, along with the US Amateur Golf
Championship, is considered the most important in
amateur golf.
The first stage of the Championship involves 288
players each of whom plays two rounds of 18 holes,
one to be played on each of the two courses. The 64
lowest scores over the 36 holes and ties for 64th
place will compete in the match play stage of the
Championship. Each match will consist of one round
of 18 holes except the Final which will be over 36
holes.
