LECANTO, Fla. (June 9, 2014) -- 90 Players, 53 Seniors and 37 Super-Seniors competed to advanced to match play in their respective brackets.
In the Senior Division, 2014 Senior Amateur & 2012 Florida Senior Open Champion Pete Williams, of Juno Beach, continued his strong play and claimed medalist honors carding rounds of 71-70 for a 3 under par total. He will face Black Diamond Member Robert Savard, of Lecanto, the 32 seed, after Savard advanced in a 3 for 1 playoff with pars on the first two playoff holes Monday afternoon.
Defending Senior Amateur Match Play Champion and 2013 Senior Player of the Year, Doug LaCrosse, of Tampa, advanced after rounds of 74-72 for a 4 over par total, and will be the 6 seed and take on Bob Hinkle, of Tallahassee.
Other notables advancing include: 2004 Senior Player of the Year Bruce Scamehorn, of Winter Haven; 2006 Mid-Amateur Champion (at Black Diamond) Bret Voisin, of Orlando; 2013 Florida Senior Open Low Amateur Gordon Marshall, of Sarasota; 1986 US Amateur Champion Buddy Alexander, of Gainesville; and 7-time Senior Player of the Year Rick Woulfe, of Fort Lauderdale.
In the Super-Senior Division, Larry Vander Bie, of Brooksville captured medalist honors with rounds of 72-70 for a 2 under par total. He will face Jim McKenzie, of Pensacola in the first round.
Defending Champion, Steve Earsley, of Hobe Sound, will face 2014 Super-Senior Champion Sam Clunan in the first round. 2012 Super-Senior Match Play Champion Jim DuBois, of Coral Springs will take on Black Diamond Member, Jim Love, of Lecanto. Love highlighted the first round with an Ace on the Par 3, 4th.

The Senior Championship is for those
individuals
over the age of 55. Two age divisions, 55-64
and
65 and over, will compete with one round of
stroke play qualifying followed by single
elimination match play rounds to determine
winners in each division.
