Match play field set at Maryland State Amateur

Lutherville Timonium, Md. (June 5, 2014) -- Walter Egloff and Christopher Navarro tied for low medalist honors during stroke-play qualifying at the 2014 Maryland State Amateur Championship at Baltimore Country Club's East Course.
The pair shot 3-under 67 and will serve as the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds when match play begins Friday.
Defending champion and University of Virginia standout Denny McCarthy is the bracket's top seed.
McCarthy, a rising star, was named to the Ben Hogan Award watch list earlier this season and recently finished sixth at the 2014 NCAA Championship.

This tournament is open to male amateurs
who
are residents of Maryland or members of
member clubs of the MSGA with an
up-to-date USGA index at that club. 18 hole
qualifying
rounds will
be held for those who do not meet exemption
criteria. 18 holes of stroke play will determine the
match play field of 32, with the defending
champion automatically qualifying unless
he
elects to compete for the Medalist prize.
