Kansas Four-Ball: 2 teams tied for lead
LAWRENCE, Kan. (June 5, 2014) -- After a lengthy weather delay that saw heavy rains and high winds, the first round of the 26th Kansas Four-Ball got underway at Alvamar Golf Course in Lawrence.
Several teams took advantage of the course conditions and produced low scores.
In the Open Division, the Wichita team of Austin Gebert and Matt Gilbaugh posted a 7-under par 65 in round one. Joining them at 7-under par is Jay Berryman and Patrick Newsum.
In the Masters Division, Alvamar members Dane Ogden and Mike Rack hold the first round lead after opening with 4-under par 68. Four other Masters teams lurk at one shot back at 3-under par 69.
The 26th Kansas Four-Ball Championship will continue on Friday with round two of stroke play qualifying. Tee times will begin at 8:00 am from #1 and #10 tees. Following the second round of stroke play, the low 16 teams in the Open Division and low 8 teams in the Masters Division will advance to a single elimination match play bracket.
