Long Beach Match Play: Saunders and Guillen tie for medalist honors
LONG BEACH, Calif. (June 1, 2014) -- Jonathan Saunders of Long Beach and Jordan Guillen of Placentia each shot 134 in the qualifying portion of the Long Beach Match Play to tie for medalist honors.
Saunders shot a second-round 65, the low round of the tournament, and Guillen posted a 66 today. Guillen is the reigning champion, and is in a great position so far to defend his title.
First-round leaders Eric Cross and Torey Edwards dropped down the leaderboard today after shooting 73 and 77, respectively.
The cut to the low 64 players for match play came at 151. Ed Susolik of Newport Beach survived a 6-for-1 playoff for the 64th-seed.
The match play portion of the event will begin next Saturday, June 7th, with the round of 64.
