Colorado Mid-Am Match Play: Santaularia moves on

LONGMONT, Colo. (May 30, 2014) — Sixteen players advanced in the Colorado Mid-Amateur Match Play today, including Charles Santaularia, last year’s runner-up.
Santaularia, the 14-seed in the 24-player bracket, defeated his opponent Robert Barnhardt 3-and-1 today, and will face 3-seed Michael Harrington in the round of 16 tomorrow.
The largest margin of victory in the first round at the Fox Hill Club came in the match between 10-seed Jeffrey Gravina and 23-seed David Lysaught. Gravina only had to go 13 holes in a 6-and-5 blowout.
The longest match went 23 holes, with 12-seed Kyle Danford and 21-seed Christopher Wilson trading blows until Danford finally prevailed on the fifth extra hole.
The top eight seeds, all determined by the Colorado Golf Association Mid-Amateur Player of the Year points list, received byes in the first round and will have their first matches in the round of 16 tomorrow.
Top seed Keith Humerickhouse is set to tee off against 16-seed Gary Driber at 7:36 tomorrow morning.
