Chanticleer National Senior: Steve Sharpe leads
Stephen Sharpe
GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 29, 2014) -- Steve Sharpe followed his first-round 69 with a second-round 73 and holds a four-shot lead entering the final round of action at the 2014 Chanticleer National Senior Invitational.
Sharpe's 3-under 69 on Wednesday put him a shot back of Rick Cloninger, the defending champion. Sharpe overtook the lead, though, when Cloninger ballooned to a 78 Thursday.
Cloninger remains alone in second place -- one shot ahead of Ron Carter, who climbed the leaderboard with a second-round 72, which was the low card of the day.
The Chanticleer National Senior Invitational draws a terrific field, including many of the top golfers in the region -- and beyond.
ABOUT THE
Chanticleer Senior Invitational
The Chanticleer National Senior Invitational started
in 2011 with the vision that it would provide a
superbly conditioned, very challenging course on
which to present a premier invitational tournament
for elite senior and super senior golfers recognized
for their playing accomplishments on a national and
international scale. The limited field is determined
from the pool of applicants with preference given to
players' performance in national and international
events as well as the current rankings. As an
integral
part of our vision, we provide extraordinary
hospitality and great value to both our players and
their significant others.
The Senior Division competition will be for players
55-64, as well as other
older qualified players who may desire to play in this
division. The Super
Senior division will be for players 65-70, as well as
other older qualified
players who prefer to play at Chanticleer. There will
be a cut after 36 holes.
As an option for Legends, we will host a separate
70+ Legends division at
our Riverside course provided we have a minimum
number of 16 players.
There will NOT be a cut.
