Miler continues dominance at Chicago Senior-Am
HOMEWOOD, Ill. (May 21, 2014) — Rain halted play at the Chicago District Golf Association Senior Amateur Championship today, but Tom Miler of Kewanee Dunes is still well on his way to defending his title and picking up a fourth Chicago Senior-Am.
After taking medalist honors in the match play qualifier by five shots with a one-under 70, Miler hammered 16-seed and 2011 champion Dirk Anderson six and five. Anderson defeated Miler in the semifinal in 2011 on his way to victory.
Miler took his revenge this year, however, and moved on to the quarterfinals with ease. Next up will be Merritt Cook of St. Andrews GCC, who shot 78 in medal play.
Yesterday’s win marks the ninth match play victory in a row for Miler, as he won both the 2012 and 2013 editions of the CDGA Senior.
Play will resume at Calumet Country Club tomorrow morning at 8:30, with the quarterfinals and semifinals being played on Thursday, and the finals to finish on Friday. Results can be viewed below.
