SOS John Kline: Dan Smith wins overall title
SAN ANTONIO, Tx. (May 8, 2014) -- For the second straight year, Smith won the Society of Seniors' John Kline Super Senior.
Last year, Ted Smith prevailed. And this year, thanks to rounds of 72-77-74 at Oak Hills Country Club, Dan Smith of Naples, Fla. took home the title by a shot.
Smith prevailed over John Richart, outlasting a final-round 72 from the runner-up. Recent Tower Invitational Super Senior winner Gary Kirwan tied for third alongside Smith, the defending champion.
Walt Martin bested Gary Strickfaden for the 70-74 title, shooting impressive rounds of 74-75-73.
Bob Hullender won with ease in the 75-79 flight thanks to 71s in each of the opening rounds. He was an eight-shot winner over Claud Johnston while Don Addington won by 10 shots in the 80-plus division.
