Jim Knoll wins NCGA Senior
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (April 29, 2014) -- It didn't quite have the fireworks from last year's event, but that won't let Jim Knoll lose any sleep.
Knoll shot a final-round 77 and hung on to defeat Casey Boyns and Steve Wilson to win the 2014 Northern California Senior Championship at Spyglass Hill Golf Course.
Knoll opened play Monday with a 1-under 71 and held a three-shot lead over the field. His 77 on Tuesday was just enough to maintain distance from a surging Boyns.
Boyns, of course, dueled with Gary Vanier in the 2013 event before losing in a playoff.
Wilson shot a second-straight 75 to take the tie for second.
Vanier, who won last year's event, finished solo fourth thanks to a closing 73 that put him a shot up on Douglas Williams.
