SeaBest Invitational: Liberty, North Florida share title
Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (Feb. 4, 2014) -- North Florida and Liberty opened their spring seasons by sharing the team title at the Sea Best Invitational on Tuesday.
The Ospreys led by seven shots after the second round, which was completed Tuesday morning, before carding a final-round 16-over 304 at TPC Sawgrass' Players Stadium Course. Liberty rallied with a closing 9-over 297 to equal North Florida at 22-over 886.
Medalist honors were also shared, as North Florida's Austin Padova and Texas A&M's Greg Yates each finished at even-par 216. Texas A&M's Ben Crancer and Liberty's Niklas Lindstrom tied for third at 2 over. M.J. Maguire and Joey Petronio tied for fifth at 6 over for the Ospreys along with Liberty's Mathieu Fenasse and Cal Poly's Camden Price.
Texas A&M, ranked fifth in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, placed third at 36 over, 14 shots back, while Tennessee (40 over) and South Carolina Upstate (51 over) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
