Ariz. Players Championship: Aduddell paces field
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Jan. 11, 2014) -- Former Arizona Amateur winner Andy Aduddell shot 4-under 68 to pace the field in the first round of the inaugural Arizona Players Championship at Desert Mountain's Outlaw Course.
Aduddell, an Air Force pilot, is one shot better than Conrad Richard White, who carded a 3-under 69 in Round 1.
The Player's Cup Championship is a new Major Championship in all AGA Divisions. Modeled after the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup and the Schwab Cup, extra Performance Points are added to the year-long Standings to create a unique payoff system rewarding play for the entire year. The event is open first to Performance Points leaders until November 1st, when it will open for all AGA members.
Laurie Warder leads the Masters Division thanks to a first-round 2-under 70.
Jeff New and Mills Brown both shot 1-over 73 and are tied atop the Senior Division.
In the Legends Division, Jim Pierce shot 4-over 76 and leads by three.
