Salinas Valley: Costanzo, Nelson win in playoffs
SALINAS, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2013) -- Drama was high at Salinas Fairways over the weekend. Both the Senior and Championship flights were won in sudden-death playoffs.
Ralph Costanzo bested Kim Cater on the second playoff hole to win the Senior title after both players finished the two-day event at 3-under 141.
Ken Noonan finished third at even par while Ray Kong and Greg O'Malley tied for fourth at 2-over.
In the Championship Flight, Drew Nelson beat Will Cross on the fourth playoff hole. Both players finished at 5-under 139 over the two-day event.
Jhett Sposeto and Zack Bailey finished tied for third.

Salinas Valley Amateur
NCGA points event. Format is 36 Holes of
Individual Stroke Play. The field will consist of the
following
flights: Championship (Black Tees); Senior
Gross (55 and over - Blue Tees); Super-Senior Gross
(65 and over – White Tees);
and one or more Net Flights. Women competing in
Championship Flight
will play from the Black tees and play from the Red
tees in the Net Flights.
Number of Net Flights based on number of entries.
Open to any amateur
with
an established handicap index.
