DANIELS— The 52nd edition of the West Virginia Senior Amateur began today, where 18-hole Stroke Play qualifying decided seeding for the Match Play portion of the Championship, which continues through the remainder of the tournament. Davin’s Jim Grimmett was Stroke Play Medalist today, shooting 2-under-par 70. John Kingora, of Morgantown, was the only other player to shoot an under-par score. The Round of 16 for the Championship flight, and Quarterfinals for both the Silver and Senior Flights begins at 8 a.m.
ABOUT THE West Virginia Senior Amateur
Entries are open to male amateur golfers with an
active GHIN Handicap index through a WVGA
Member
Club, and who are 50 years of age or older by the
first
round of Championship. The tournament will be 36
holes of stroke play qualifying followed by match
play.
Thirty-two players will advance in the Senior
Division,
16 players will advance in the Silver Division, and 8
players will advance in the Gold Division.
