Horsley leads Mississippi Senior Amateur
TUNICA, Miss. (Aug. 24, 2013) — After two rounds in the books here at Tunica Nation Golf Club, Stewart Horsley, of Jackson, stands alone at the top of the leaderboard. Horsley opened the tournament with an opening round 73, and had a share of the lead. Today he was our only player in the Senior Division to shoot under par.His three under par 69, in today's round, puts him three shots ahead of the rest of the field. Ken Peacock, of Brandon, is in second place after his 72-73-145. Right behind him, Robert Pannell of Greenwood, and Dean Brown of Brandon, are at a two day total 146. Horsley will looks to finish strong and take home the title in his first Senior Amateur.
In the Super Senior Division, Jackson's Fred Brister has taken the top spot by himself. Brister has a two day total of one under par 143. Two shots behind him is Fulton's Ken Hogue. Hogue is our Super Senior defending champion, and will be looking to make up the two shots, and successfully defend his title. Rounding our our top three is Batesville's Joel Rivers. Rivers has fired 75-71 for a two day total of 146.
We have a very close race in this year's Grand Master Division. John Garner of Petal, 82-77-159, is sitting at the top of the leaderboard. Only one shot behind him is our defending champion, Cecil Watkins of Picayune. Watkins was our first round leader with a 78, and fired a second round 82, to find himself one shot behind. In third place, Larry Wagster, of Oxford, is six shots behind our leader after his 82-83-165.

Mississippi Senior Amateur
Tournament is scheduled for 54 holes of stroke play;
players will be flighted after 36 holes of play within
their age division. Field size is limited to the first
104
players.
The Championship is open to male amateurs who
are
bona fide residents of the state of Mississippi for at
least 60 days prior to the first round of the
tournament.
Divisions:
- Seniors must have reached their 50th birthday
prior to the first day of the championship.
- Super Seniors must have reached their 60th
birthday prior to the first day of the championship.
- Grand Masters must have reached their 70th
birthday prior to the first day of the championship.
