Charlotte City: Oweida tops Jaspers for title
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Aug. 11, 2013) -- Phillip OWeida shot 68-68-72 to win the 2013 Charlotte City Amateur Championship.
Oweida, who led after Round 1, won in a playoff over Joe Jaspers, who shot 65 on Saturday to get into contention. Jaspers (71-65-72) finished alone in second place.
David Sargent shot three straight 70s to place third alongside William Rainey (73-68-69).
The Charlotte City Amateur is played over three days at three Charlotte courses, Myers Park, Cedarwood Country Club and Carolina Golf Club. The 54 hole stroke play championship that has been played for over 50 years.

54 hole stroke play championship that has been
played for over 50 years. After 18 holes the field will
be cut to the low 50 and ties. After 36 holes the field
will be cut to the low 24 (no ties). Ties for the low
24 will be decided by an on course play off. The low
24 will be exempt from qualifying for the following
year. Played over three different Charlotte-area
courses. Entry is open to any amateur golfer who is
a
legal resident of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina
and has a current USGA handicap index of 6.4 or
below.
