Charlotte City Amateur: Oweida, Giles share lead
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Aug. 9, 2013) -- Phillip Oweida and David Giles hold the first-round lead at the 2013 Charlotte City Amateur Championship.
At Cedarwood Country Club, the co-leaders shot 68 to pace the field. After the first round, the field was cut to the low 56 players, which fell at 76.
Chad Cox and Barry Dyche shot 69 and are tied for third place while David Sargent and Seth Gandy are sitting tied for fifth, just two shots behind the leaders.

Charlotte City Amateur
54 hole stroke play championship that has been
played for over 50 years. After 18 holes the field will
be cut to the low 50 and ties. After 36 holes the field
will be cut to the low 24 (no ties). Ties for the low
24 will be decided by an on course play off. The low
24 will be exempt from qualifying for the following
year. Played over three different Charlotte-area
courses. Entry is open to any amateur golfer who is
a
legal resident of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina
and has a current USGA handicap index of 6.4 or
below.
