Fox takes lead at Tennessee Amateur

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (August 8, 2013) — Steven Fox fired a 68 (-2 under par) in Round 3 to take the lead with a 54 hole total of 203 (-7 under par). Coming into 17 at nine under par, Fox had a manageable lead ahead of Round 2 leader, Grant Milner. Fox then proceeds to double his last hole to cut his lead to just one stroke over Carson Jacobs who as a 54 total of 204.
Tim Jackson, defending champion, is just 4 strokes out of the lead tied for 3rd at 207. Also at 207 is Ryan Thornton and Round 2 leader, Grant Milner.
In talking with Milner after his round, he was asked what changed from yesterday to today. He replied, “I don’t feel like much changed. I played well on the front nine, I just missed a few putts and shots on the back. My speed was off today on long putts especially.” Tournament leader, Steven Fox made some comments about his round saying, “I finally played well on the front side. Today was my best day swinging until number 18, which I doubled.” He continued by saying, “I am going into tomorrow just like every other day this week. I am just going to keep my number in mind.”
Tomorrow marks the ending of the 98th Annual Tennessee State Amateur Championship. With 65 golfers all vying for the title, it will be a crucial round for many. Several are in contention to win, it just comes down to who can hit fairways and greens.

USGA/GHIN Handicap Index of 8.0 or less from a
TGA member club or
course. An 18-hole stroke play qualifier is required
for
those who do not meet the exemption criteria.
Format
consists of 72 holes of stroke play with a cut to the
low
60 and ties after the second round.
