A.J. Maxedon wins Santa Maria Valley Amateur
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (July 28, 2013) -- The 2013
Santa Maria Valley Amateur golf tournament was
36 holes of golf held over the weekend, with
perfect weather at Rancho Maria Golf Club.
The SMVA Champion who plays for Cal State
East
Bay with a 70-70=140 was A.J. Maxedon.
The runner-up, who plays for UC San Diego with
a
72-71=143 was Jeff Roseth. Third place went to
defending champion and local product Matt
Sobczak with a 70-74=144.
The A flight champion with a net score of 65-
73=138 was local restaurant owner Bill Ostini.
Taking the B flight, with a net score of 69-
67=136 is Rancho Maria men’s club member
Dean Young.

Two day event played at the historic Rancho Maria
Country Club, former site of the California State
Open.
The short but challenging course rolls through a
beautiful setting with no houses in site. And have
you
ever heard of a Santa Maria BBQ? They originated
here
and players will be treated to them after play each
day.
Also included in the entry fee is a generous prize
fund
and cart on the second day.
Championship and Senior Championship (ages 50+)
flights
with gross scoring, plus flights determined by
handicap with
net scoring. Seniors can compete in the
Championship flight.
Must be 18 or older.
