Pike leads Carolinas Super Senior Championship
BLUFFTON, SC - First round results of the 5th Carolinas Super Senior Amateur Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Hilton Head National Golf Club in Bluffton, SC on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 (5980 yards, par 36-35—71, 69.7/128).

1992 North Carolina Amateur champion Arlis Pike of Kernersville, NC carded a round of 69 to take a one stroke lead over Stan Kinney of Summerfield, NC. Pike made three birdies versus one bogey in his round.

Defending champion John Walters of Charlotte, NC is in a tie for third place after an opening round of even par 71.

Two hole-in-ones was recorded during round one. David Fairley of Charlotte, NC holed a 4-hybrid on the 165-yard fourth hole while Larry Cowman of Charlotte, NC aced the 155-yard 13thhole using a six-iron.

Final round of the 36-hole event is set for a 9:00am shotgun start at Hilton Head National Golf Club on Wednesday. Round two groupings are listed at the bottom.

Carolinas Super Senior Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 65th birthday, is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 15.4.

The championship is 36 holes of stroke play. Players select which division to compete if eligible: Championship Division (Men Age 65+); Approximate yardage = 6100 yards. 70+ Division (Men age 70+); Approximate yardage = 5500 yards
