Iowa Match Play rolls on without top seed
IOWA CITY, Iowa (June 26 2013) — Medalist Nate Yankovich of the University of Iowa was upset in the second round Wednesday at the Iowa Match Play Championship.
After shooting 67 to lead all qualifiers on Tuesday, Yankovich defeated Preston Reynolds before being ousted by No. 32 seed Ian Vendersee.
Vendersee played his way through to the quarterfinals, which begin Thursday.
Also advancing to the quarterfinal round were No. 8 Steven Ihm, the recent Sunnehanna winner.

Yankovich, a native of Ohio, was the only player to post a score in the 60s during qualifying.
Three players tied for second place after shooting two-under par 70s, including Conner Steele, Brian Verduyn and Seth Schroeder.

18 holes of stroke play qualifying to determine a 64-
player match play bracket. The defending champion
is exempt
from the 18-hole qualifying round. The defending
champion
may choose to compete in the qualifying round to
earn medalist
honors but is assured of no lower than the #2 seed
in Match Play. Must be an IGA member.
