Nike Lunar Control Golf Shoe Review

I’ve been wearing the same pair of FootJoys for more years than I’d like to admit. With that said, I’m very pleased with the Lunar Controls so far.

FIRST REACTION

When I first took the shoes out of the box, they looked sharp as I feel most Nike products do, but they seemed a little bulky. While the top of the shoe is pretty sleek, the sole bumps out in a few places which causes it to look a little wide. However, I was happy with the weight. While it’s not featherweight, it’s much lighter than my previous FJs.

IN ACTION

Because I didn’t get to break them in prior to wearing them on the course, the shoes were a little tight in the arch of my foot. After the first hole, however, they broke in nicely and felt great. I’d say they run true to size.

I was playing early in the morning so it was cold and dewy out, but these shoes were up to the task. The CHAMP Spikes worked perfectly and kept my feet grounded on every swing. I haven’t had the opportunity to walk 18 in them yet, but so far they’ve provided great support and are extremely comfortable.

FINAL THOUGHTS

While I had some reservations about them initially, I am extremely pleased with the way the Lunar Control performs. My only gripe thus far is the length of the shoelaces. They are little on the short side which has made keeping them tied for an entire round a little tricky, but that’s a pretty easy fix.

If you play courses with uneven lies or live where it’s rainy, these may be an expense (retail at $160) that’s worth it. At the very least, I’d recommend trying them on at your local golf store.
