With the support of Fujikura Golf, Foresight Sports, and Cobra Puma Golf, the AmateurGolf.com Equipment Panel San Diego Meetup in mid-October was an unforgettable experience for attendees. This exclusive gathering capped off what has been the most successful year yet for the Equipment Panel, bringing together a passionate group of like-minded golfers to test the latest gear, experience cutting-edge technology, and play on world-renowned courses.

The Event
The 2024 Equipment Panel Meetup provided a unique opportunity for panelists to immerse themselves in the latest products from Fujikura Golf, known for its high-performance shafts, and Foresight Sports, leaders in launch monitor technology. The event also featured special guest TJ Spidle from Cobra Golf, who surprised attendees with an exciting product showcase.

Panelists stayed at the picturesque Indigo Hotel Del Mar, just minutes from the Pacific Ocean. With a packed itinerary including fittings, golf at premier courses, and a hands-on wedge clinic, the experience highlighted the value of proper equipment fitting and advanced golf technology.

What We Learned
A key focus of the event was addressing the critical question every golfer asks themselves: Is your current equipment setup allowing you to maximize your potential? With the help of Fujikura, Foresight, and Cobra, attendees explored the importance of custom-fitting and using launch monitors to gain a competitive advantage. The panelists learned to analyze essential data points like swing speed, ball spin, and trajectory, helping them fine-tune their equipment for optimal performance.

The event also delved into the growing world of golf simulators, discussing how to install both indoor and outdoor setups, and how these systems can improve game performance.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

The event kicked off with an immersive morning session at Foresight Sports’ headquarters in San Diego, where attendees were fitted for new clubs and participated in simulator gameplay using Foresight’s industry-leading technology. The day continued with an afternoon round at the stunning Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad, followed by a relaxed dinner in Del Mar.

The second day mirrored the first, beginning with another educational and fitting session at Foresight. The afternoon took the group to the legendary Torrey Pines North Course, where they experienced one of the most iconic public golf courses in the world. Despite the shorter October days, everyone played in under 4:15 and finished 18 holes.

Wednesday, October 16, 2024
The final morning featured a comprehensive range session at Torrey Pines, highlighted by a Mr. Short Game wedge clinic. Attendees worked on their short game and honed their wedge play. Using Foresight launch monitors, participants also tackled distance capping to ensure their shots were dialed in. The event concluded with farewells and departures after a memorable three-day golf experience.

Takeaways
As the panelists departed from sunny San Diego, they carried with them invaluable insights into their game. Through personalized fittings with Fujikura and on-course experiences at Torrey Pines and Aviara Golf Club, attendees better understood the importance of proper equipment. Each participant was left with a custom shaft and club setup and enhanced knowledge about how to integrate Foresight launch monitors into their training routines. In addition, the hands-on demonstrations and simulations provided a firsthand look at how technology is evolving in the golf world, giving panelists a new perspective on performance improvement.
