Legendary singer and golf lover Bing Crosby spent a great deal of time at his retreat in Rancho Santa Fe, and the original Crosby "Clambake" was founded at Rancho Santa Fe Country Club. The aptly named "Crosby Club" was opened in 2001 as the centerpiece of a residential community in Rancho Santa Fe.
The Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design is situated on a hilly piece of property that provides some really fun and scenic tee shots, particularly on the par threes. It's also a fun driving course, with some tempting risk/reward shots such as the par four 5th hole, where the downhill tee shot might make you swing out of your shoes, however the wise play is a fairway metal or utility club down the middle.
An understated, yet elegant clubhouse and practice facility that amateurgolf.com votes a "perfect 10" round out the golf portion of the package at the Crosby. Needless to say, if you can afford a house there and like perfect weather year round, it's a pretty sweet spot to call home.
