Sequoyah Country Club's par 70 layout is as difficult to master as it is verdant and beautiful, with hilly terrain and small, sloping greens. With no parallel fairways and no two holes alike, Sequoyah never seems to play the same way twice. The course is a par 70 for men and par 72 for women, with one of the highest slope/yardage ratios of any layout in California. Rolling hills, sloping fairways and lightning fast greens are some of the reasons that the Sequoyah’s length belies its difficulty.
The Oakland Tribune said, "The strange feeling hits you almost immediately when you step to the first tee at Sequoyah Country Club. Is this Oakland? Well, it is the Oakland hills, but at Sequoyah it's easy to drift away to another place and another time . . . But if your putter goes wacky, Sequoyah will chew you up and spit you out. Then, and only then, would you feel you're in Oakland."
