Andrew Stilwell
Perhaps the world's "worst" Pinehurst resident, I
spend more time ensuring that other people are
out playing golf than actually playing myself. I
carded my first (and only) eagle (a 40-yard hole
out from the bunker to a wet green on the third
hole of Midland Country Club in Pinehurst) in
March of 2014, and considered giving up the
game completely, because at that point, I felt
my golf career had peaked. While my speed of a
round of golf is more suited to Pinehurst
Resort's nine-hole short course, The Cradle, or
the nearby Longleaf Golf & Family Club's six-
holer, Bottlebrush, you're more likely to find me
outside the ropes, providing event operations
support for the U.S. Kids Golf World
Championships and other smaller events around
the Pinehurst and Southern Pines area or writing
about the goings-on of golf in North Carolina.
