Donovan, Knoll win Antioch Master-Senior
ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 1, 2012) -- The third time was a charm for Darryl Donovan and partner Jim Knoll, who won their third Antioch Master-Senior at Lonetree Golf Course.
The event was slated as a two-day tournament but inclement weather on Saturday forced a shootout-style, one-day event with the winning group edging out Kevin Kobalter and Frank Pieper by one shot with a 64.
"Being a one day event, there wasn't a lot of room for separation," said Donovan, a member of amateurgolf.com's Player Staff Program. "We just made key putts. Our ball-striking today was subpar but we made the putts we needed to make."
Bob and Scott Olds followed Kobalter and Pieper to finish tied with Doc and Chris Miller in third place with identical scores of 66.
Red-hot Randy Haag and partner Paul Balatti finished in fifth, firing a 67.
