It took four extra holes but eventually Yujeong Son was able to outlast Rino Sasaki
FORT WORTH, TX (March 14, 2017) -- It took a marathon playoff but in the end Yujeong Son was able to claim the 2017 Kathy Whitworth Invitational title.
Playing at Mira Vista Golf Club Son finished the 36-holes of regulation tied with Rino Sasaki at 142. Son, the 2016 Dixie Women's Amateur winner, paired together rounds of 71-71. For Sasaki it was rounds of 73-69.
Emilia Migliaccio (73-70--143) finished third and one shot out of the playoff while Rachel Heck (73-72--145) and Kailie Vongsaga (74-71--145) shared fourth.
About the Kathy Whitworth Invitational
36-hole stroke play event with a junior/am preceding the tournament. The tournament honors Kathy Whitworth, the LPGA Hall of Famer whose 88 career wins set an all-time record for both men's and women's U.S. Tours.
