New Titleist 917 fairways to offer more distance, forgiveness and easy-to-understand adjustability
For many serious golfers, the quest to find the perfect fairway wood is never ending. That's why you see many golfers (including Tour players) carrying clubs that haven't been sold in stores for years. If you find a good one, it's hard to part with it, whether that's your trusty 3-wood, or even a 5-wood.

Titleist has something for those with "old metal" in their bags to consider, the 917 fairways, which hit stores alongside the new Titleist 917 drivers on October 21.
Even the world's best players want a playable fairway wood, especially if it also delivers more distance. But Titleist doesn't think that you need to be a scratch golfer to hit a fairway wood off a tight lie.
“Traditionally, fairway woods have been some of the most difficult clubs to hit. With 917 fairways, we’re giving players a more playable, easier-to-hit fairway wood with increased speed performance – and that’s a great package,” said Stephanie Luttrell, Director, Titleist Metalwood Development.
New to the 917 fariways is a feature also implemented on the 917 driver, the SureFit CG adjustable weight system. The pre-installed weight in the sole of the 917 has a neutral effect on ball flight, while replacing that weight with the second one provides either a draw or fade bias.
Titleist will release two 917 fairway models, the 917F2 and 917F3.
TECHNICAL STUFF
Enhanced Active Recoil Channel: A popular feature carried over from the 915 that allows the club face to flex at impact. An increased unique elastomer insert in the 917 series increases club face flexibility.
Player Testing Results: Among players fit for the 917F2 or 917F3, they experience 3-7 more yards of carry, 0.3-0.5 mph more and a higher launch angle of 0.25-0.50.
MODELS, LOFTS, AND SHAFTS
Both models, the 917F2 and 917F3 will offer players with all the tools for success. The 917F2 (13.5, 15, 16.5, 18 and 21 lofts) provides playability and forgiveness while 917F3 (13.5 and 15 lofts) offers shot control and distance.
917 LAUNCH EVENTS:
On Saturday, Sept. 17 (9/17), facilities around the country will host trial and fittings days for new Titleist 917 drivers and fairways. For more information and a list of participating facilities, golfers should visit Titleist.com.
