Brian Noonan birdied the first playoff hole to defeat David Backus and win the 2014 Morris Williams Mid-Amateur Spring Championship at Jimmy Clay Golf Course

AUSTIN, Texas (March 24, 2014) -- Brian Noonan birdied the first playoff hole to defeat David Backus and win the 2014 Morris Williams Mid-Amateur Spring Championship at Jimmy Clay Golf Course. Noonan trailed first-round leader Manny Bhakta by a shot entering Sunday's second and final round but shot 70 to tie Backus after regulation. Backus had shot 73-77 to finish atop the leaderboard. Ben Carter shot 71-80 to finish alone in second place, one better than a trio of fourth-place finishers.
About the Austin Spring Championship

36 hole stroke play held at one of Austin's most historic city courses. Flighted after round 1. Became a mid-amateur (ages 25+) tournament in 2010.
