David Antony sprints to Gate Petroleum Senior Title

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL (December 6, 2017) - On the strength of a flawless final round 5-under 65 David Antony has won the Gate Petroleum Senior Amateur. Playing at the Ocean Course of the Ponte Vedra Inn Anthony rode his stellar final round to a 3-under-par finish and a five-stroke triumph.

2-over to begin the day, Anthony was the only player under-par during Wednesday's final round as he sprinted to the title.

Over the years Anthony has played well in Florida AGC Senior Ranking events. This year the native of Jacksonville, FL finished tied for third at the Timuquana Cup Senior after finishing in solo third in the event each of the two years prior. Anthony has twice won AGC ranking events, first in 2006 at the Florida Azalea Amateur and then again in 2013 at the Florida Azalea Senior.

Mike Bodney was second at 3-over, Tom Davis and John Lobb shared third at 6-over while Larry Smith at 7-over took fifth.

ABOUT THE Gate Senior Amateur

Since its inception in 1995, the Gate Petroleum Senior Amateur Championship has developed into the largest and most respected event for senior golfers in North Florida. Competition is conducted in (3) divisions: Senior division (50-64 yrs.), Super Senior division (65-74 yrs.), Grand Senior division (75 yrs. and older). A qualifying round held the week prior will yield an actual field of (48) senior amateurs and (30) super seniors and grand senior amateurs. This three-day 54-hole gross stroke play event is conducted on both the Ocean and Lagoon Course.
