Matt Meyer and Matt Wills lead The Egg Invitational at Mayfield Sand Ridge Golf Club
CHARDON, OH (September 25, 2017) - Matt Meyer (The Golf Club) and Matt Wills (Jefferson Country Club) will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Egg Invitational at Mayfield Sand Ridge Golf Club.
The defending Egg Invitational champions, Damian Rhodes (Mayfield Sand Ridge) and his partner Jeff O’Brien (Shaker Heights Country Club), seemed to pick up right where they left off on Monday, opening with a Better-Ball score of 8-under 64. But they slipped to a 72 in the second round under the Chapman Format, to fall one shot behind the leaders.
Meyer and Wills combined a Better-Ball score of 6-under 66 with a Chapman score of 69 to post a 36-hole total of 9-under 135.
Chris Okeson (Mayfield Sand Ridge) and Rob Schustrich (Sugar Bush Golf Club) found themselves seven shots back after the Better-Ball round, but put together the best Chapman score of the day, a 66, to pull within two shots at 7-under 137. Their Chapman round started with five straight birdies to get them into contention.
Two teams are tied for fourth place at 139, four shots behind Meyer and Wills. David Hall (Detroit Golf Club) and Henry Do (Polo Fields Golf & Country Club) shot 71-68, while Ken Kinkopf and Tim Richey of Tartan Fields Golf Club posted rounds of 72-67.
